Sustainability & Community Impact: Our Tanggung Jawab

In Bahasa Indonesia, tanggung jawab means ‘responsibility’. This principle is the bedrock of our approach to sustainability. We operate in one of the most biodiverse and culturally rich nations on Earth, and we recognize our profound responsibility to protect its natural wonders and empower its communities for generations to come. Our business is intrinsically linked to the health of Indonesia’s ecosystems and the well-being of its people. This is not just a policy; it is a core part of our identity as a member of the Juara Holding Group.

Environmental Commitments: Preserving Paradise

We are dedicated to minimizing our environmental footprint and actively contributing to conservation.

  • 100% Carbon Neutral Flights: We calculate the carbon emissions from every single flight hour and offset 100% of our footprint by purchasing high-quality, verified carbon credits from the Katingan Mentaya Project in Kalimantan. This leading REDD+ project protects vital peatland forests, supports local communities, and preserves biodiversity.
  • Modern, Efficient Fleet: We invest in a modern fleet of helicopters, such as the Airbus H130, which are renowned for their fuel efficiency and low noise signature. This reduces emissions and minimizes disturbance to wildlife and local communities compared to older generation aircraft.
  • Zero Single-Use Plastics: All our in-flight services and ground operations are free of single-use plastics. We provide clients with reusable water bottles and partner with suppliers who share our commitment to plastic reduction.
  • Direct Conservation Support: We are a proud corporate partner of the Komodo Survival Program and the Coral Triangle Center. A percentage of the revenue from all tours to these regions is donated directly to fund their critical on-the-ground conservation work, from protecting Komodo dragon habitats to restoring coral reefs.
  • Responsible Operations: Our pilots are trained in flight techniques that minimize environmental impact, such as maintaining higher altitudes over sensitive wildlife areas and adhering to all national park regulations.

Community Commitments: Empowering Indonesia

Our vision of luxury is one that creates shared value and fosters sustainable livelihoods.

  • Prioritizing Local Employment: We are an Indonesian company, built by and for Indonesians. Over 95% of our team—from our highly skilled pilots and engineers to our concierge and guide teams—are Indonesian nationals. We invest heavily in their training and professional development. Meet our local experts on the Our Team page.
  • Sourcing from Local Enterprises: We actively seek to incorporate local products and services into our experiences. This includes sourcing in-flight catering from local organic farms, providing amenities made by local artisans, and arranging meals at community-owned restaurants during excursions.
  • Supporting Cultural Preservation: We facilitate respectful and authentic cultural interactions that celebrate and preserve Indonesia’s rich heritage. We partner with local guides and communities to offer experiences like visiting traditional weaving villages in Sumba or learning about Subak irrigation systems in Bali, ensuring that the community benefits directly and is empowered to maintain their traditions.
  • The Juara Foundation: Through our parent group’s foundation, we support educational scholarships for young people from remote eastern Indonesian islands like Flores and Alor, providing them with pathways to careers in the hospitality and tourism industry.

When you choose to fly with Indonesiahelicopter Co., you are not just choosing a luxury service; you are making a conscious choice to support a more sustainable and equitable future for the Indonesian archipelago.
